Use RSS to Generate Your e-Newsletters

Time is precious. And it is often spent writing emails. Or putting together email campaigns to your congregation or supporters.

Communication with your constituency is important and so email campaigns prove helpful. But sometimes putting together a monthly (or even weekly) email can prove grueling. Managing consistent communications then becomes unmanageable due to the time commitment it takes to send out emails.

Really Simple Syndication or RSS is one technology that can help. This RSS feed pushes your blog posts to a webpage formatted to be read by different readers such as Google Reader, the FeedlerRSS iPhone app, or Mailchimp.

Ahhh, Mailchimp. I love this free online email campaign service. It’s terrific and very powerful.

Mailchimp has an option to setup reoccurring emails via RSS. This means your blog posts can be setup to automatically deliver every week without you ever having to setup an email.

Mailchimp searches your blog and if it sees new posts, it collects them and then sends them out on the day you designated for emails to deliver. So all you need to do is publish posts on your blog, sit back, and let Mailchimp’s RSS feature send out emails containing your posts.
