Creating Urls For Print Marketing

Ever read a print advertisement that had a long website URL with multiple forward slashes? So it looked like www.tricom.us/thisurl/iswaytoolong. It’s for these situations we are writing this post, so you can avoid this unnecessary advertisement mistake.

The reason long URLs with multiple forward slashes are uncool is because it makes the reader work too hard to remember (and then type) the address information into their website browser. If the URL is too complicated, the person may make a mistake in typing the URL and then give up trying to locate the correct address. The result: your advertisement failed to get them to your website.

So how do you fix this problem?

The easiest way is to create a shortened URL and then forward it to the longer URL. So instead of www.tricom.us/about/freequote you would create a short URL such as www.tricom.us/freequote that would forward to the longer URL.

By creating a short URL, your print advertisement will be easier to read. It will look cleaner and more professional. And the result: people will get to your website.
